Association of Parents of Teen Girls

Our research has enlightened us to some very disturbing statistics about the issues that tween and teen girls now face in the U.S. We found that:

  • 90% of eating disorders are found in girls.
  • 58% of girls admit to dieting.
  • 1 million girls under the age of 18 get pregnant annually.
  • 1 out of 10 8th graders smokes daily.
  • 85% of girls experience sexual harassment in school.
  • 30% of girls with adolescents have thoughts about suicide.

All these problems, e.g. eating disorders, teenage pregnancy, smoking, sexual harassment, and suicide, are closely tied to self-esteem. Experts have found that teenage girls who belong to these statistics suffer from lack of, or low, self esteem. This is the premise behind the Association of Parents of Teen Girls (APTG).  This paid membership community aims to address the issues mentioned above so we can raise girls with healthy self esteem.  By providing resources to the members of our community, we seek to:

  • Facilitate a good relationships between parents, guardians, educators, and teen girls.
  • Create opportunities for teen girls and the adults in their lives to bond.
  • Help tweens and teen girls experience success with schoolwork and extracurricular activities.
